There was fabulous weather at the GRAND OPEN DAY for Upton Snodsbury Park on Saturday 15th September 2007. It was an exciting day and the culmination of many years of hard work. The trustees celebrated this with a well deserved toast and champagne - before rushing back to running the stalls. The beer tent was very popular, as were the refreshments - tea, coffee, cakes, hot dogs and burgers. There were excellent displays from the Tahira belly dancers and from the husky dog sled racers. The five-a-side football tournament was enthusiastically supported and the pony rides lasted long into the afternoon. There was friendly rivalry between the tug-of-war teams, the youngsters dividing into a boys against girls match which ended with much laughter and many of the younger competitors sprawled on the grass. The event was well supported by the local residents as well as our local councillors, Rob Adams and Linda Robinson, and the Wychavon Parks Officer, Lynn Stevens. It was a great event to celebrate the opening of the park and we look forward to hosting many more open events there. |
