The Upton Snodsbury and surrounding areas have a thriving gardening society.
This month we visit the Spetchley Gardening Show and
Jesse Broderick's
cottage style garden
Spetchley Gardening Club
Monthly meeting held at Spetchley School House on
the first Thursday of every month.
Time: 7.30 pm

During the height of Summer the society organises visits to some super local gardens many
of which are
part of the
National Garden Scheme.

Next Month Judy will be back with more hints & tips & we will be covering another local garden in detail

Spetchley Gardening Show
The Old School House
The village show was bedevilled by wet weather and the Gazeebo flew away twice! But undaunted the commitee and volunteeers battled on and all in all the day was a success. I couldn't possibly cover all the prise winners, but I have included a few stalwart winners:

Pete Chamberlain won with his "5 Flowers with Foliage"; "Beetroot"; "Vase of Annuals"; "5 Tomatoes"; "Carrots"; "Potatoes" and many more!

Helen Bennett won with her "Plate of Scones"; "Shallotts"; and many more!

Dennis Bluck won "Best Bloom in the Garden";
"3 Decorative Dahlias"
and many more!

Judy Pollitt won "Plate of Other Fruit" with a plate of Medlars; and prizes for her Bread and Marmalade.
David Pollit won "Autumn Colour" in the photography section.

Jessie Broderick got a prize for her "Domestic Arts".

Rosemary Cottrill was awarded a 1st for her "Plate of Dessert Apples".

Dot Tarran was awarded a 1st for her "Floral Arrangement".

Terry Eagle was awarded a 1st for his "3 Cactus Dahlias".

In the Junior section Edward Cooke got a first for his "Garden in a Seed Tray" & so did Kate Cottrill.

Janet Russell had firsts for her photography-"Early Morning" & "An Animal".
